Inspired by the elegant and fashionable Isabel Mondavi, wife of wine industry Icon Michael Mondavi; the I’M wines are designed to deliver pure enjoyment, elevating good times with friends and family with their flavorful, cuisine enhancing style. From the avant-garde packaging to the refined, well balance style, the I’M wines represent cutting edge concepts, in packaging, varietal composition, land stewardship and terroir.
A reflection of Isabel’s world travels, and cultured palate each wine represents a little vignette on the theme “my favorite things”. I’M is culmination of Isabel’s favorite varietals, growing regions and wine styles as interpreted by her son, third generation winemaker, Rob Mondavi, Jr. Grapes for the 2005 vintage were sourced from the Tim Ramey vineyard (formerly O’Conner vineyard), produced by the winemaking team of Rob Mondavi Jr. and Tony Coltrin (Folio Fine Wine Partners) with Scott Paul Wright and Kelley Fox (Scott Paul Wines) at the Carlton Wine Studio in Oregon.
The 2005 vintage was a low-yield year similar in yields to 2004 harvest, but marked by incredible balance. A drought year, the 2005 vintage produced Pinot Noir grapes that reflects the beautiful balance and flavors associated with a more cool, even ripening, characteristic of the best vintages from the Willamette Valley. Brilliant garnet in color, this wine show supple body and fruit, with a bright, red cherry nose layered with cherry blossom top-notes and hints of exotic spices like cardamom and star anise. Smooth entry on the palate with even texture through to the finish, shows red cherry flavors layered on an attractive oak frame.
